Senior Adults

The senior adult ministry is made up of two groups that meet separately but work together supporting our church in its mission of "impacting our communities with the hope, peace and purpose of Jesus Christ."

The 39ers meet in the Salt House on the second Tuesday of every month at 11:00 a.m. for a Bible study and covered dish lunch here at the church. The 39ers also engage in ministry opportunities, games, crafts and other activities on these days.

The Forerunners meet in the Salt House on the second Thursday evening of each month at 6:30 p.m. for a covered dish dinner. Dinner is followed with a guest speaker/singer, games and other ministry activities.

We are blessed to be able to meet, eat and take a day trip every now and then and other times enjoy a guest speaker or entertainment. For some, this is the extent of our social life but that's only a part of the blessings we receive. The real blessings come from aiding each other and others in times of need, ministering in nursing homes and to those who are homebound. Hospital visits aren't off limits, but we probably get more than we give since travel is an issue for some.

Upcoming events/activities for senior adulta are listed below. (Note: If you need transportation to any of these events, please call the church office and let us know.)

Fundraising

When you drive by the church and see the beautiful electronic sign flashing messages of activities and events, think of the seniors. The sign is a gift from us to our church, made possible by fundraisers we sponsor in which everyone can participate without a special offering. It is our goal to pay it off completely by this time next year -- or possilby sooner. You can help us make this happen by supporting our various fundraising activities.

In addition to our Annual Quilt Show and Craft Fair, we have a couple of other ongoing fundraisers in which everyone can participate. If you shop at Kroger you can help by using a Kroger gift card to pay for your purchases. You can get one of these gift cards from the church office and use it just like a credit or debit card when you do your grocery shopping, and Kroger will donate to the church 4 percent of all purchases made with the card.

Another thing that we do to raise money for the church is collect and sell aluminum cans. Save your aluminum cans and deposit them in the bin behind the Family LIfe Center. We've earned over $3,000 since starting this program just over two years ago. Recycling is becoming a way of life with us today, make it profitable to our cause by bringing your cans to the church.
