Second Floor Classroom Renovation and New Security System
The renovation of The LOFT children's area is now complete. You can view
photos of the project on Bro. Michael's FBCJ
Children's Area Renovation Blog.
About the Project
In the early 1900’s, Reverend George
Milliken planted a church here in
Joelton with a vision to reach this
community for Christ. His dream
became a reality and over 90 years
later, FBCJ is continuing
the vision by embarking on a
journey to live that dream; to impact
our community with the hope, peace,
and purpose of Jesus Christ.
As we look to the future, particularly
the next five years, we are in need of
addressing the growing needs of our
Children’s Ministry. We have determined
we need to provide a more
welcoming environment
for our children to study and learn
about God, and to address the space
usage dilemma of our second floor
children’s area. Current attendance numbers
show 60 to 80 more preschoolers
and children on Sunday mornings than
we had a year ago. God has blessed
our church with many new families
and visitors.
There is also a need to replace
furnishings, and increase our classroom
space to meet current needs. Our plan is to take the
existing space and reconfigure
it to maximize the space on
the second floor. We will be able to
provide space for 200 first to sixth
graders per Sunday School hour with this floor plan.
We will propose to replace all
furnishings for an improved look, as well as better functionality and comfort. (NOTE:

If we are to Live Our Dream, we must
provide for the future, today. These
needs cannot wait, as we have
currently surpassed the capacity limits for many of our classrooms. This
project is extremely important to our continued growth.
PARENT PAGER CHECK-IN SYSTEM
As part of this process, we will be
implementing a new check-in and
security system, giving us a much
improved way of not only checking children in and out, but for providing better
security measures for our preschoolers as well. (Click on the arrow to watch the video below to learn more about this system.) We may be a church in a
rural area of Davidson County, but we
are not a small rural church. In
today's society, we must provide for the safety of the children in our care.
We believe this will be a positive step toward meeting the needs of
our future, now.
UPDATE: We have now implemented this new system and have mailed, by household, forms we need filled out to
assist with making sure all information is current. Please return these forms to the
church. If you need a copy of the required form, you may download
it here. You should also come by and have your photos added to your profile. Thank you for your help with this process! Learn more about the Parent Pager System...
It is our goal to have this project paid for by the time it is completed and
to incur no new
debt. We believe the future of FBCJ is promising, but if we are to achieve
our potential for reaching souls for the Kingdom and impacting our community,
we must move forward with these improvements now. We ask you to embrace this project so that we
might carry on the legacy that Rev. Milliken began over 90 years ago. Join us
in prayer and in sacrificial giving as we continue to Live Our Dream and
take action to meet these needs and leave legacy for future generations.
