The Fine Arts Ministries (FAM) of FBCJ exist to lead our congregation in meaningful worship each week and to provide ministry outlets for those interested in music, drama, and the arts. Special programs and evangelistic events are designed to encourage the church and to reach our community and the world for Christ. These ministries help children, youth and adults grow in their musical and other artistic abilities so that what we offer to God is of the highest quality. The Fine Arts Ministries desire to help all, those in ministry teams and those to whom we minister, grow in spiritual maturity, and provide mission and ministry opportunities for every age group. Worship is central to the life and work of God's people. Here at FBCJ, music plays a vital role in helping our church accomplish its mission. Choirs, ensembles, musicians and small groups offer the opportunity to lead in worship in varied settings. Throughout the year, we strive to encourage people by providing opportunities for them to use and develop their talents for a clearly defined purpose: to honor and worship God through choirs, worship teams, seasonal performances and more. The Drama Ministry at FBCJ is just that — a ministry. It's not a place for those who just want to be on stage, or break into the acting business, or get their names in lights. Most of us have never had any formal training to be "actors", but we are all focused on presenting life-changing messages through drama.
Our Drama Ministry, now known as "Calvary in Motion", began as a clowning ministry in the mid 1980s. Later we added puppets and skits for church services. Eventually, we also added a dinner theater and longer full-length dramas. We take our ministry seriously. We feel it is successful when lives are changed for eternity. The impact may not always be obvious, but seeds are planted. How exciting it is to see someone turn their life over to God because of a drama!
