FBCJ Kitchen/Family Life Center Renovation Project

Kitchen/Family Life Center Renovation Project

We are moving forward! On Wednesday evening, September 28, at a special called business meeting, the church body voted to move forward with Phase 1 of this project. It was agreed that construction drawings would be obtained, bids sought, and that the renovation of the kitchen will begin once 25 % of the funds were raised. (Total cost estimates are between $200,000 and $250.000 (see details below).

UPDATE: Construction is in full swing. With the Building Permit approved and bids awarded, Phase 1 of this project is moving along. Please remember that our goal is to pay for this remodel as we go. Your gifts and contributions are greatly appreciated.

Our Ministerial Staff, Deacons, Board of Directors, and Kitchen/FLC Renovation Committee were challenged to set the example in giving and to raise the first 25%. In response, they have made an initial sacrificial gift of $53,648, in addition to the $10,000 already set aside for the construction drawings. On Sunday morning, October 30, the church congregation was challenged and encouraged to give an initial gift in support of our Kitchen and Family Life Center renovation along with their pledge of on-going support. If you missed the opportunity to give or weren't prepared to give that morning, you may do so through our online giving option or through the church office. The total given to date (as of Nov. 13) is $106,370. Thank you to all who are joining in this important ministry endeavor, which will cover the next several months. If you have not yet made a commitment, please be in prayer about how God is leading you to be personally involved. Times are tough right now, but God is good. If we all commit ourselves to prayer and giving there will be no way to imagine all that God can and will do through our church.

Total Estimated Project Cost: $350,000 - $450,000*
* The estimated project costs are based upon the committee’s most conservative construction estimates. It is our belief that the project will come in under this estimate. With construction documents, hard bids can be obtained.

The Kitchen/Family Life Center Renovation Committee has recommended:
  1. The project be conducted as a single project with 2 phases
  2. To begin actively raising funds for this project – to this point, $10,000 has been raised
  3. To proceed with construction plans at a cost of $10,000
  4. To put project out for hard bid
  5. Provided the bids received are within an acceptable range, that FBCJ begin Phase 1 once 25% of those funds are raised
  6. Should bids be significantly higher, the FLC Committee will present a revised plan to the church body for approval
  7. Fundraising continues throughout project with the goal of paying as we go
  8. The Chairpersons of the Budget and Finance Committee and the Board of Directors arrange for financing plan to cover any shortfall
  9. Upon completion of Phase 1, the FLC Committee will give an update and recommend how to proceed with Phase 2
  10. With approval of the new recommendations, Phase II will begin pending previously scheduled events on the FBCJ calendar.
